BANSA NATIONAL CONVENTION 2025 – BALI NYONGA

Theme: Embracing our heritage, shaping our future through moral values

The Bali Nyonga Students’ Association recently concluded a vibrant four-day National Convention, bringing together
Bali Nyonga students and youths from across the nation to celebrate culture, sports, unity, and personal development. This year’s theme, ” Embracing our heritage, shaping our future through moral values,” resonated deeply as youths engaged in a series of exhilarating competitions, community outreach, and enriching workshops designed to enhance their skills, promote unity, and showcase their talents.

The convention kicked off with an engaging educational talk from the vibrant Etoma women and Rev. Babila Forchang on morality. It proceeded with spirited football and handball competitions, igniting a palpable excitement among the participants. Students from different branches put on their jerseys, ready to compete not just for victory but for pride and merriment within their respective branches. The energy was infectious as teams battled it out on the field, demonstrating athletic dexterity and teamwork. These sporting events not only fostered solidarity but also highlighted the importance of physical fitness in student life.

Day two, in addition to sports and cultural showcases, the convention featured engaging workshops, taking into
consideration the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals 4, 13, and 16 on quality education, climate actions,
and a peaceful society for development. An amazing session on personal branding equipped students with vital skills
for navigating global opportunities. Members learned how to effectively present themselves in various contexts, which is essential in today’s global competitive world. The workshop on the production of liquid soap was particularly
popular, combining practicality with entrepreneurship. Students are left with both knowledge and the confidence to
pursue their own business ventures.

Additionally, the community outreach activities aimed at keeping the community clean were another exciting moment as participants used this opportunity to keep the community market clean and to offer manpower assistance to the reconstruction taking place in the Fon’s palace. They equally used the occasion to learn about plastic reduction, environmental sustainability, and the importance of community involvement. Day 3 was characterized by a series of cultural activities like dance, quiz, and debate. Cultural heritage was also front
and center in the convention’s itinerary. The traditional ndanga and mandet dance competitions captivated audiences, as the seven branches turned out in colorful attire and performed mesmerizing routines that celebrated our cultural heritage.

The dances were not merely performances; they served as a reminder of what unites the Bali Nyonga people, the richness of their diverse cultures. The gentility of the princes’ dance, vibrant costumes, and rhythmic movements created an atmosphere of joy and pride, reinforcing the significance of cultural identity among the youth.

The convention was not solely focused on competitions and workshops; it also prioritized friendship and personal
connections. The grand Gala night was a moment of connection and friendzone moments. It encouraged participants
to mingle, share stories, and build networks that extend beyond the event itself. These interactions underlined the
importance of a strong community and support among students, fostering lasting relationships that will benefit them in their academic and personal lives.

A highlight of the convention was the much-anticipated talent show, where students showcased their diverse
abilities—from music and drama to poetry and comedy. The podium became a platform for up-and-coming artists to
shine, receiving encouragement and applause from fellow youths. This celebration of talent was a testament to the
creativity and innovation within the Bali Nyonga student community, showcasing that each individual has a unique
contribution to make.

As the convention drew to a close, participants reflected on the experiences gained over the past four days. The
activities not only provided entertainment and competition but also facilitated personal growth and cultural exchange. Many left the venue feeling inspired and more connected to their roots, as well as to their homeland. The Bali Nyonga Students’ Association National Convention has certainly set a high bar for future events, reinforcing its commitment to fostering unity, growth, and cultural pride among the youth.

In conclusion, the convention was a resounding success, blending sports, culture, and education into a memorable
experience. As the Bali Nyonga community looks forward to next year’s edition, the spirit of togetherness and
celebration will continue to thrive, preparing students for a future of leadership and success.
